Cromarty Image Library

Queen Mary 2 visits the firth - 2005

Collection of pics entered into the first ever Cromarty Image Library photo competition. We've had 130 entries, of which we've published 36 on the site. Some of those which we haven't published deserve to be on the site, but are perhaps too similar to ones already there.

The winners have been chosen by a vote of Plexus Media employees, and are as follows.

Winner: Nora Watson - Watchers on the Rocks.

All four of us at Plexus individually chose this as our favourite, and from the comments left on the page, many of you felt the same.

Nora gets the top prize of a £25 voucher for use in the Sutor Creek restaurant.

2nd: Estelle Quick - QM2 through the Haze

With votes from 3 of us, Estelle gets the 2nd prize for this atmospheric shot. She also received a vote for another of her pics - picture #1238.

3rd: Alasdair Ritchie - QS2 Leaving the Firth

Alasdair (age 8) took this view of the QM2 through the centre of a rusty chain link he found on the beach.

Interestingly, this one was the favourite of Nora, our eventual winner, so congratulations Alasdair. Alasdair also wins a delicious pizza at Sutor Creek.

Honourable mentions go to the following pictures, which each got one vote:- Malcolm McKean (picture #1259), Kitty Gommers (picture #1239), Maxine Smith (picture #1258), Ronald Young (picture #1267), Don Coutts (picture #1248), Erin Coutts (picture #1246) and Susan Florence (picture #1233).
