Hey how great to see the Post Office in Jemimaville. I grew up in Jemimaville and remember the old Post Office run by first Mrs Thomas then Mrs Langlands both sadly gone now. Wonderful memories. If anyone remembers me please get in touch, I've been away for 45 years now but its still home.

The Post Office stands now where the telephone kiosk used to stand I can just see the roof and upstairs windows of the house that was owned by my granny Mrs Mackay, and in which I lived until my departure from the Black Isle in 1960 at the tender age of 17. Oh Happy Happy Days

How very, very sad! Is all of our traditional heritage to be gradually destroyed in the name of so-called progress? What a very "hyggelig" (cosy) little post office. But then Denmark´s small post offices are also being sliced away, following the demise of agriculture and fishing, traditional industries of this country.

Mr Griffin, thank you for that comment, it will soon be quicker to Denmark by 'flaskpost', when I threw a bottle with a message off the CROMARTY LIFEBOAT in 1952, it landed in HIRTSHALS northern tip of Denmark, taking 4 months to travel from 57.45*N 03.50*W where the bottle was thrown into the sea.

Dear Mr. Watson, thank you in return for your comment and interesting experience.
Since you use the word "flaskepost", hvor meget dansk kan du?
Regards, Richard.

Knowing the books of Jane Duncan, for me this Post Office is the office of the "Post Mistress". I was very sad when I read in a Dutch paper it is or will be closed.
