Helen Hogg has given me a full list of names, with only one that she and Bobby can't remember.
Back L-R:- Peter Taylor, Hugh Ross, Sandy Bremner, Willie Graham, ???, Alistair Macleod, Bobby Hogg, Charles Gordon.
Middle L-R:- Albert Marks, Alastair Inglis, Jack Mackay, Douglas Matheson, Douglas Shepherd, Ewan Gillies, Ernest Jack, Hugh Skinner, Bertie Whiteman.

The missing name was a lad who lived at Cromarty Mains for a short time. The teacher is Miss Mackay, who belonged to Ardgay.
I hadn't realised, and was in fact amazed to find that this is the same Miss Mackay who taught me in the late 1960s - her nickname for some reason was 'Kyesie Kippers'.

That`s Kysie alright. She taught me in the 1950s and my Dad before me. I remember getting a few raps on the knuckles with a ruler and one time I got two of the belt for talking when the headmaster, John Rae was in the room! I think it was maybe to John Shepherd ('Stoker') who was comparing our hand-writing. Where are you now John? Mine was definitely better than yours.

Kyesie retired around 1973 or 74 and died in the mid or late 1990's. When I was in started in primary 1 Kyesie took P3, P4 & P5, Mrs Newell took P1 & P2 and Mr MacRae the headmaster took P6 & P7. I remember my first day on P1 sitting with Douglas Shepherd who I lived next door to.

I'm not so sure that's Kysie, better ask Douglas Matheson one of the boys in the class photograph. If it is Kysie in the photo, how old would she be then? I remember her from 1944, much older. My memories of her:- as being very strict, but looking

Clem, the names are from Bobby and Helen, so I'm sure it will be her. I remember that she was very keen on teaching us Scottish history, and seemed to have a soft spot for those who 'stole' the Stone of Scone back from London.

I'm sure that is her alright. I know she taught my mother Catherine Watson (who is in the photo) and sister before me. One thing I remember about her was that she drove a Bull Nose Morris from new, and when changing it for a new car in the 50's I believe the Garage paid her handsomely plus a new Morris Minor!!

My deceased mother Catherine Manson (nee Watson) has a brother in Kumara NZ. However there was a bit of an age gap so he may not be in the photo.

Yes Thats Right Garve ..Miss Mackay was also a teacher of mine ..and if I remember rightly..she was very proud of her home Town Ardgay ....I can't remember her nicname been called "Kyesie Kippers" ...but I'm sure your right ! everyone had a "nickname" in those days !!!

I don't remember the nickname for Miss Mackay either but that is certainly her because she always stood in the same pose and was imaculately dressed and I recognised her before i looked at the names.

Hello Hazel, Miss Mackay was known to all over many decades as 'Kysie', I don't remember her quite so young, as in this photo. When I worked with the Lifeboat service in the 80's, I used to call and visit her at home in Ardgay, she was then in her 90's!, prior to her going into a Nursing Home in Barbaraville.

Visited Highland Archives this year while holidaying in Cromarty and looked at the 1920s Cromarty School register for my uncle Donald Watson (b. Cromarty 1920). He left Cromarty in May 1927 and isn't in this photo. Looks like this was taken later that year. I can link some of the names in the register with the names appearing in the photo.
Could the missing boy be a James Bartlett who lived at "Mains" and left for Forfarshire on 25 November 1927?
