Back of Allan Square - now Surgery

This shows the area where the doctor's surgery now stands. The space to the left looking towards Denoon Place had previously held a large warehouse-type building. Town children used to play in (and on) the building, and Billy 'Beam' Watson had fallen from the rafters inside to his severe injury - fortunately making a full recovery. The building was then demolished. Date of photo is a guess, but is probably fairly accurate.

Alison, my brother actually fell through the roof of the building which is now Billy Fraser's workshop next to the Royal Hotel. Comment left on 27 March 2005 at 23:41 by Nora
I remember this building being referred to as Cathal McKenzie's shed (He lived directly across the road from the Victoria Hall)and I have vivid memories of jumping off the rafters onto a huge load of straw (wouldn't contemplate it now!) Comment left on 27 October 2006 at 22:36 by Angela Taylor
