If I am right that machine there was usually used to apply grass seed - in this case it looks as if it has been adapted for an application of fertiliser.

Looks like Duncan Fraser and Jim Young. Photo could have been taken up to 1960 as Rosefarm used the horsedrawn spreader until then.

Yes that looks like Jim Young and tes that is a grass seeder and if you adjusted the cog mechanism it would spread fertiliser also.
