Rosefarm 1963
Rosefarm has been occupied by the Middletons since 1780. Bright Gordon's great-great-great-great-grandfather was invited by the estate agent to leave Yorkshire and come north in about 1780. Bright's grandfather bought Rosefarm in 1923.

One of my Grandfathers mothers relatives worked here as a farm servant in the late 1880's. My Grandfather is Roderick James Duff and his mother was Isabella May Bain.

I believe I also had a relative, Mary Cameron, who lived at Rosefarm. I believe in the mid 1800's. She married my great, great, grandfather Enoch Holme who came to Canada about 1871. I would be interested if anyone has knowledge of her. Thank you

I am interested in seeing another Cameron in this area. My great, great, grandfather, John McLeod, was born on the Black Isle about 1819, give or take 2 years. His mother's maiden name was Ann Cameron. I am struggling with a Cameron surname study.

I picked tatties on Rose Farm and remember Mrs Gordon as being absolutely charming ... and generous. There was a real sense of community at that time (circa 1965-75).

My ancestors lived and worked at Rosefarm in the 1800's. Among them are parents Donald Bain (1793-1849) and his wife Christian Urquhart (1795-1884) and their sons Thomas Middleton Bain, James Bain, Donald Bain, John Bain and Alexander Bain. Thomas M. was my great great grandfather and he emigrated to Canada with his family. I am interested in finding out more about Rosefarm, the Middletons (were we related?), the Bains, and ancestors of Donald and Christian Bain.

Thomas Middleton Bain is also my great-great-grandfather. In addition to sharing the interests noted by Ann Stevens, I would like information on his emigration to Nova Scotia,Canada. (year and ship) I have visited the cemetery where he, his wife, some children and grandchildren are buried.
