I love your pics Nora i know at the time the QM2 was there friends of my son who lives in Cromarty drove up from Stirling just to see her...

Is that mr donald mcintosh looking through his binoculars, the person on the right? Think so! Can anyone identify the other person taken, by the looks of it, at the targets, as most of us middle aged croms would call it! When, actually, the targets is a little further round the coast, which at sea level is very dangerous to attempt to get to the actual targets! Which I believe to be the two gun turrets, which stand on two pieces of large rocks, just at the entrance coming in to the Cromarty Firth, on the foreshore of the South Sutors!

The Targets were situated just at the start of the trees above the shore and before the rocks - if that makes sense. They consisted of two large frames that could be individually hoisted when shooting was underway from the butts positioned back along the shore near the burn that divides the reeds field. The butts were overtaken by rising seas from around the 70's. I think they were 1, 2and 3 hundred yds back. We collected spent rounds there as boys.
