Tunnel under the North Sutor

The flooded enterance to what was to be a huge underground oil storage complex under the North Sutor. A few yards of tunnel were dug - in early 1978, and then all work ceased. It can be seen at the east end of Nigg beach.

The water level in this photo is much higher than it was when I was last there, which was probably about three years ago. We went over to collect some tadpoles - if you go at the right time the ground round the tunnel is covered with so many tiny black frogs there is hardly anywhere to put your feet down.
