Comments:
My dad was working there at the time, he worked the Big Wolfe - he was George Mcdonald or 'Geordie'. I remember the float out as we sat on Nigg hill and froze as it floated out to sea. It was a big moment for a lot of the boys who worked on it

Truly amazing hardwork as everything was cut and fitted piecemeal style we soon learned to build large sections and with the experience of the professional rigger and crane operators and welder fabricator each section lifted into place. It was precision lifts, every crane sychronised into timing the lift, very well organised. It was for us in the early days a mammoth task for everyone involved, yard fabricators, welders, scaffolders, riggers, mechanics, fitters, electricians, helpers, cleaners, foremen, gen foremen, engineeers. Good memories we had the best years of the oil industry.
