Sheep shearingPossibly at Townlands farm, but what is the silhouette on the left? Also see picture #1459.

The silhouette is a wooden frame similar to that of a swing. There is large bag (wool bag/sheet) hanging on the two ropes that are showing. Someone would be inside the bag and the sheeps fleeces would be passed up and in through the opening on the top of the bag. You can see a fleece being passed up on the top of the wooden fence. The person inside the bag then would pack the fleeces into the bag. When the bag was full it would be sown up with heavy twine and sent for wool grading.
