Baptismal Font - Cromarty East Church

Date Added: 01 February 2006 Contributor: Calum Davidson Year: 2005 Picture No: 1527

I took this picture about a year ago, and recently entered it in the Church of Scotland Church photo of the year competition for 2006. The Ross-shire picked it up and published it in early January. The competition closes in about a fortnight, and all the entries can be seen at www.churchofscotland.org.uk.

Hi Calum:
It is recorded on our files that this font was donated by the Mackenzie family, either my g/mother, Elizabeth Fraser-Mackenzie or my g/aunt Isabella Mackenzie. Can you confirm this for me? thank you.

I have been researching the history of the Church and the donation of the font is one of the few items not mentioned in the records I have seen. It seems to have been placed in the church in 1904 or 1905. Can you let me have details of your information about the donors? Comment left on 15 March 2008 at 09:16 by David Alston
