I know John Reddigan very well. John and I both played in a band located in Dingwall, Rosshire, Scotland, called the Melotones.

I went to Fortrose Academy with a John Reddigan. Is it the same one we were at school in the mid fifties? Comment left on 28 July 2009 at 21:53 by Mary Mackay now Tomlinson Harrison
I talk to John quite often. I am in Alberta Canada and was back in Dingwall last year for a Melotones reunion. Regrettably most have passed away. John lives in Strathblane. email me for his phone number. He will welcome a call. I used to go to Cromarty, Fortrose and Rosemarkie often. The best looking girls were there. When I grew up in Beauly (was born on the Lovat Estate) We used to take regular trips to Rosemarkie. When I graduated from Inverness Royal Academy I took a bet to climb the TV tower that was new in 1954 and did that. Anyway I remember lots of friends and girlfriends down there some have passed on.

When I was playing with the Melotones Band we had a great fan called Willie Trail from the Black Isle. Is he still alive?
Also my sister Fiona Chisholm runs the Pace Petrol Station at Tore. If anybody remembers the Melotones just e-mail me. Black Isle, one of Scotlands friendliest places. If you want John Reddigan's phone number e-mail me also. Talk to him all the time about the great 50's and 60's.

Was back in Cromarty in February, got together with John again after 30 years and dueted again at Rosemary Hogg's house. Had a good time and it was nice to see Rosemary again after all those years. Comment left on 27 March 2010 at 22:54 by Roy Thomas
Thanks Roy.
John called me last week as gave me Rosemarys phone number. I will call her as I hear she is great on the keyboard.
Our family is still grieving after our daughter was killed in an athletic accident in Spain and the story was in the Rosshire Journal.

Let me tell you Bert Mackay was the Guitarist with the famous Dingwall Melotones as all us oldies remember Bert had his own distinctive sound Fender Guitar Vox 30 amplifier.Ghost Riders in the sky.was the biggie number he was a great influence to me personally.I used to go home get guitar out and wish I could play like Bert.Bert left for Canada and never looked back.as fate would have it I replaced him in the Meletones.a hard act to follow.but boy was I chuffed.Im happy to relate I have spoken to Bert many times in Canada he tragically lost a daughter in a cycling accident Bert started his musical career like so many in the Beauly Skiffle group.I loved dueting with Roy Thomas our voices clicked Roy is a scoucer.love him singing the song.In my Liverpool home.happy times Added by J. Had a reunion with Fergie Brown the horn player in the Melotones but Jock(Ian) Fraser had to play at Skibo Castle and Eric Sutherland (bass) was very ill and could not make it but many of the Melotones family were there and the Legion with Billy and Meg handled all the PINTS and Sandwiches very well. Best of luck to all and a Happy New Year coming up. Comment left on 13 December 2014 at 22:46 by Bert MacKay, Edmonton, Alberta.
