This photo was taken before lunchtime (the bakers would have been finished their shift after lunch) and I was given a copy before we emigrated to New Zealand.

Jackie was the shop manager, Bob and Ken were the bakers, Cathie was the assistant in the bakery shop, Margaret Isaacson was the clerkess/bookkeeper and Bill was the storeman whose duties included filling paraffin tins and fetching boxes of stock from external stores behind the shop and also at the Old Commercial Bank in Bank Street (Cromarty had 3 banks at one time).

Oliver was the "message boy" and Margaret Gilmour, Maureen and Veronica (Clem's sister) were shop assistants. Veronica was probably a student at that time, the shop being a holiday job.

Donald and Derick were partners in the business which was founded by their father (my grand father) in 1907.

Absent from the photo is John Matheson (no relation) who drove one of two travelling shops - John would have been out on his round by the time the photo was taken.
