Does any one know where it is now? I would love to see it run again...

Hamish was right into CB radio at the time. His 'handle' was Jamboree and he would drive to the top of the Sutor to get the best reception. He had a 200 watt 'burner' (amplifier) which he used to communicate with people all over the world when conditions were right. He had to keep the engine running or the burner would have flattened his battery.
Dozens of us in Cromarty had CBs at the time - then they became legal and we all got bored! Comment left on 07 June 2006 at 16:56 by Garve (Invader)

The CB radio was great fun for a few years, the Captain, Texas Ranger and Whisky galore are just a few of the names I could mention, I was the Sweeny which Texas Ranger and Caterpillar still call me any time i meet them. Met Texas Ranger (Mark) just a few weeks ago.

That would be EEEEEE Caterpillar !!! there was the Gumball Kid and the Drifter (who supplied most of the CBs) there was a couple of Suspects for the jeep one was the late Gerry Smith who had fallen out with Hamish the other one was rumoured to be a small boy whos father worked at the salmon fishing but no concrete evidence was found my handle was Tiny Tim aye those were the days! I spent manys a night in the smoke filled Jeep listening to Hamish speak fluent french to people and also speaking to America as well when the skip was good

Couple of other handles I remember - Michael Mcbean was the Wrecker, and Brian Morrison was Caberfeidh - Brian can be seen with Hamish in picture #754. Michael came up with the CB name for Cromarty - Atlantis.

I used to sit on the back of this jeep when my father would be driving it whilst working for Hamish, and just not long before Gerry moved to Nice in France, he told me that he went down to the harbour early one morning and done something and then burst out laughing,,and this picture is what he found funny! it was'nt so funny for me when i walked to the harbour before heading to school witch i did most day's,to see the jeep smoking away. i went to tell my dad and there was a lot of police activity.
