i think Danny mcbean owned some of the houses which were there before the new ones were built maybe in the 50s, as my grandparents moved into one of them when they came down from Allerton to live in CRomarty and my grandfather worked for Danny.

people lived in parts of the Hemp factory before the new houses were built i remember playing there as a child, my grandparents stayed there for a while when they moved down from Allerton Farm maybe in the 50s.

I wonder if this is were my ggg grandfather John Grant b1817 worked as it is recorded on his sons John Benjamin grants marriage cert John Benjamin married A Henrietta Mcrae in 1877 they were married at Allerton
anybody how knows of any information I would love to hear from them also my gggg grand father John Grant married twice first to a Margaret Simpson in 1836 and then to a Catherine Henry from Fern in 1847 sadly Margaret died in May 1847 there was only 7mths between Margaret dying and John marrying Catherine. Margaret and John had 4 children, David Grant, Elizabeth Mackintosh Grant, and Elizabeth Murray Grant then in 1845 she had a Margaret Grant and in 1847 had another Margaret grant this probably was why she died i.e. complications. I don't know what happened to the children of the first marriage i.e. Margaret and John anybody with any information on this family I would love to know and then a Margaret Grant.

Elizabeth Mackintosh Grant was my Great Grandmother, she married Duncan Mackenzie and lived in London. Comment left on 13 February 2016 at 14:04 by Elaine Pettis
Hello Elaine,
Thank you for commenting and letting me know that, about Elizabeth Mackintosh Grant, do you know what happened to her sisters and who brought them up?

I have looked, at the census after John married, Catherine and the children of first marriage aren't there, would appreciate any more information on this family xx
