View from Shore St to Gordons Lane

Looking up the wee vennel to the east of Seabank house, you can see Harold Hossack's cottage at the end, with a partially whitewashed house on Gordons Lane behind it. Has this lane ever had a name?

I find this photo to be very interesting and puzzling at the same time since the people (adults & children) standing in the cottage doorways seem to be intently and curiously looking at the camera as perhaps this might have been their first photograhic experience in 1890.
Does anybody know who these people are and how many people can be seen in this photo as I estimate their might be 6-8 with the fisherman mending his net, the little girl standing in the lane, another woman (standing) and boy (seated) in the first doorway and another child and person(s) standing in the farther doorway?
