New bus shelter at Shore Street car park
Certainly looks well built enough to last much longer than the glass and plastic one sited in Munlochy recently - and already wrecked.

Fantastic craftsmanship, well done to the joiners involved. Can anyone tell me whether the old bothy/fisher house behind has been renovated with the same care and attention?

I believe that Howard will be starting renovations of the Salmon Bothy soon.
As to the bus shelter, my father-in-law was over from Germany recently and was amazed to see how the shelter was being made - real craftsmen rather than a glass and plastic monstrosity - and impressed by the quality and size of the wood used. I'd thought that in Germany, where the traditional apprentice system still survives, that this sort of project would be common. But he said that, no, in Hamburg they'd just have used the cheapest solution available. Strangely, I believe that the cost of this handmade wooden shelter is very close to that of a glass and plastic one, and is likely to last at least 40 years longer ;) Comment left on 30 April 2007 at 22:10 by Colin

it was paul young who designed and made it - I don't think the roof is finished I think he is planning a turf roof.
