The Burn from the bridge.

Presumably this channel was built after the flood of 1940. Anyone know who did this, and what the reason for the rows of cobbles is?

See picture #154 for a view of this immediately after the flood.

I don't know the reason for the cobble stones? All I know as a young boy I used to run over them .. and see how many I could jump before I fell off on the slimy green stones!
