Mr D. R. Mackenzie, was one of Cromarty's Provosts, when the town had it's own Town Council, prior to the reorganisation of local government in Scotland.
The gentleman was in business on his own account, and was Chairman of the
former State Management District. (Govt. Pubs & 'Off Sales')in the Cromarty
Firth Area, for some considerable time, but he was not a doctor.
There was a Dr. Ian Mackenzie in Cromarty for a time, (1960's), he came from
Tain area.

A Dr Hugh Mackenzie was in practice for many years in Munlochy. He was our doctor when we lived in Avoch. I believe he originally came from the Plockton area, had 3 sons. One (Peter) works for an oil company out of Aberdeen.
