The Rather Transocean running anchors at night, in front of Fishertown. First time we have had a rig parked this far up the Firth for a few years. She is being stacked after drilling a Gas well west of Shetland.

This Far DOWN the firth Calum. UP is towards Invergordon. Comment left on 19 November 2009 at 19:41 by Ronald Young
Interesting point Ronald, and as always in these things I guess you are right. Up is North, and Dingwall (and the rest of the Firth) is North West of us, so we are down.

In my defense I suspect my mental map thinks that Cromarty is at the "top" because we are the mouth of the Firth, and as I come from the North Coast, everything else is south!

Well Calum to be honest i use to think that we were up as well but at the age of 15 when i first started on the boats i got my knuckles rapped for saying so. Comment left on 23 November 2009 at 23:50 by Ronald Young
Actually called The Transocean Rather, I stayed on it the last time it was berthed there, we got off at night for a few hours after our shift was finished, I used to borrow my Dad's car (Lachie) to go home and see my kids before they went to bed in Rosemarkie!!
