Helen MacLean

I believe this photograph may have been taken in the garden of the UF Manse as the Firth (with the Nigg shoreline and ships?) seems to be visible beyond the fence. My aunt, Helen MacLean, was born in 1912 so this would date the picture to around 1914. Isabella's account of the sinking of the Natal can be found - along with a great many other Cromarty stories and recollections - in "Your Father and I", a collection of her letters that was edited by my father, Colin G MacLean and published in 1997 as part of the Tuckwell "Flashbacks" series.
