Storm Damage to 'Reeds Park' path

Storm Damage to 'Reeds Park' path

Date Added: 02 April 2010 Contributor: Colin Dunn Year: 2010 Picture No: 2646

The storm of late March was a pretty bad one, and combined with very high tides this has resulted in extensive damage to the 'Reeds Park' path adjacent to Clunes House. There will no doubt be the usual arguments about who is responsible for repairing this new damage :)

The path was just repaired a couple of years ago after earlier storm damage, and it's noticeable that the areas reinforced last time with gabions (steel mesh boxes filed with rocks - see mid right of photo) have withstood this year's storm very well. It's the areas left unprotected that have fared very badly, and this is especially bad about 80 yards further along the path towards the Sutor where the sea is now threatening to undercut the path completely.
