A much better version of picture #1830. The Zoomified version gives a great deal of detail.

The nearest battleship appears to be HMS Repulse. The other two are HMS Nelson and HMS Rodney, completed in June and August 1927. The date of the photo would be much later then 1916, therefore, and possibly around 1936 after Repulse's refit. Comment left on 28 June 2010 at 23:13 by Campbell Ross
The belltower of the church is on the roofline though, so the date must be before the fire of 1932, after which it was moved to the East side. Comment left on 28 June 2010 at 23:22 by Garve Scott-Lodge
The yacht to the right of the church is enormous. Any idea what it is? A vessel of that size must have rare, and owned by a very wealthy person, so it may be possible to identify the year of the photo by the yacht's identity and age. Comment left on 29 June 2010 at 09:19 by Colin (Editor)
