Thatching Hugh Miller's Cottage
Graham Carter, the 'journeyman' thatcher preparing one of the hazel (or 'nutwood' as he calls it) ties for the ridge of Hugh Miller's cottage.
Graham, like the wood is from Cambridgeshire, the straw on the ridge is from Essex and the reeds used for the thatching are all the way from Turkey. The original material came from the Tay estuary.
