Date Added: 01 January 2003 Contributor: Garve Scott-Lodge Year: 1969 Picture No: 283

This family group shows the shore at Marine Terrace before the current railings were added. More interestingly, it also shows the front building of the old factory or rope works which was demolished a few years later.

The family in the foreground are the McGookin family. My grandmother, Jean McGookin is sitting on the bench with her grandchildren, Thomas Anthony and Gillian. Comment left on 14 April 2003 by Garve Scott-Lodge
I remember the old factory buildings where once my grandparents lived, after moving from Allerton farm. Their name was Beattie. Comment left on 09 November 2003 by Anon
I Remember this seat right outside39/40 Bayview Crescent. Barely remember the front building - wish it was still there would have made magic houses. I remember playing in the factory as a child and having a gang hut in what is now the houses at the back row OH THE GOOD OLD DAYS !!!! Comment left on 05 December 2003 by Anon
I too played in the factory buildings when staying with my grandparents. I was born on Allerton Farm in 1945 then moved to Dundee but visited every year to stay with grandparents. They were very happy days; my friend then was Marjory McIntosh who used to stay in Shoremills then Church St, Cromarty. Comment left on 05 December 2003 by Anne Kidd (nee Wade)
I remember Tom. He gave me Piano lessons in the early 1970s. Both Tom and Jean made you feel at home - a very nice family.

I am the wee boy with the red trunks who in years later had great fun in Cromarty and was known as Tam. Comment left on 08 March 2010 at 23:15 by Tam McGookin
Tam, I've always wondered what happened to you! It would be great to catch up. How's Gillian? Comment left on 15 March 2010 at 13:50 by Jess Alexander (nee Gunn)
Jess - I'm Tam's Auntie Jan and I'll pass your message on to him. Meanwhile, Tam (or Tony as the family now call him) is married to Liz and they have two sons, Daniel and Owen. Gillian is also married, to John Wilkie and they have twin boys, Charles and Vincent. I'll pass on your message and I expect you'll hear from them soon. Best wishes, Jan Comment left on 15 March 2010 at 20:27 by Jan Scott-Lodge
