Yes, I had the same thought, which is why I stood up-wind :)
The firemen who put it out were wearing full breathing masks and bottles, and were careful to put them on before approaching the fire. Very nasty toxins from burning fibreglass, I believe.

The smoke was blowing out to sea so you would have been ok to stand near the boat while it was burning.

What a complete waste of the fire brigade's time!! That could have been put out with buckets of sea water!

I'd be more interested in finding who set it on fire in the first place. They are the real time wasters.
