Forsyth House

Forsyth House

Date Added: 10 March 2012 Contributor: Ruth MacGregor Year: 2012 Picture No: 3103

This painting is a view of the back garden of Forsyth House. It is very much as I remember it 50 years ago, but I don't know when it was painted. The signature bottom right seems to be "M Met..." with the end cut off. My mother was a friend of Ann Slader, and was given the picture after her death in 1977.

This makes me very, very homesick. Lived my formative years in Forsyth House. Many happy memories. Comment left on 11 March 2012 at 18:25 by Jess Alexander (Gunn)
This picture is very similar to the school class picture recently added - picture #3147. It may have been painted by Mr MacIntyre, he stayed with Mrs Slader in Forsyth House. Comment left on 04 May 2012 at 09:31 by Davey jones
Well done, Davey Jones, for spotting that this was by the same artist as picture,3147, and thanks to Rhona for the name of the artist. I'm certain now that this one is by Meta Meston, or perhaps Metson? I've had the picture reframed, and the signature is not completely visible any more. Many thanks Estelle.
Going through all the stuff we took from Cromarty has resulted in so many questions, so it's great to have the occasional answer too.
