Cromarty Football Club - 1962

Date Added: 01 January 2003 Contributor: D MacPhee Year: 1962 Picture No: 318

This picture shows the team which beat Conon in the Munro cup final that year.
Back Row - D MacPhee, R Winton, I MacPhee, D Robertson, R MacLean, J Gillies.
Front Row - H Kniarzyk, K Pickett, F McIver, D Kelly, A Shepherd.

The posts on the pitch were set up to take ropes to hold back the crowd at Cromarty home games after a particularly rowdy match against Alness. The referree, Colin Murray from Evanton, threw his case into the harbour afterwards, saying he'd never ref another game again, and the antics got Cromarty FC onto the back page of the Sunday Post.

I found my Dad at last. Shame his name is not spelt that way - it's Kniarzyk.

Who is F Mciver? is it no suposed to be Mackie Mciver? Comment left on 17 June 2011 at 10:39 by Steven Mciver
Freddie Mciver used to live up the mains and left in the 60's to go to Leicester where he still lives. He comes back to Cromarty fairly regularly. Comment left on 23 June 2011 at 14:54 by Rhona Garratt
