McFarquhar's Bed from Nairn

McFarquhar's Bed from Nairn

Date Added: 24 June 2013 Contributor: Jackie Bain Year: 2013 Picture No: 3353

I took this picture from Nairn Pier on 1st April 2013. Can anyone tell me what the building is that appears just above the old Bothy highlighted here. I'm sure someone knows, but I have nobody left in Crom to keep me up with developments in and around.

Difficult to see what you've highlighted at this scale, but a privy has been built part way up the cliff at Macfarquhar's Bed. Comment left on 25 June 2013 at 08:25 by Estelle Quick
It's a new, rather fancier timber-clad bothy erected directly behind the original one. There's also a small timber-clad cludgie, I believe. Comment left on 25 June 2013 at 21:37 by Colin Dunn
Thanks for that Colin, but what's it used for do you know? Comment left on 26 June 2013 at 17:49 by Jackie Bain
Erm, that's "what's the bothy used for" btw, not the cludgie ;) Comment left on 27 June 2013 at 10:49 by Jackie Bain
I think it's a basic but well-built off-grid holiday lodge. I met the chappy working on the building 2 summers ago and he was building it to very high quality as wee holiday accommodation for the summer. Seemed to be doing a very good job, and was bringing in wood and other materials and lowering them laboriously by sling from the cliff top. Comment left on 28 June 2013 at 09:53 by Colin Dunn
