McFarquhar's Bed from Nairn - v2

Date Added: 29 June 2013 Contributor: Jackie Bain Year: 2013 Picture No: 3355

Here's the Bothy picture zoomed in. The lower of the two building is, I take it, the old Salmon Fisher's Bothy. The upper, a new build. I'd just like to know it's purpose, how long it's been there and any info on it at all. Just call me nosey.

hi jackie....long time no see! well the two bothy's as you state in your picture have been there for as far back as i can remember. went out and past them many times in the 70's at the creels and lobster fishing with old angus morrison and alister maclean..they still remain there and in the same condition apart from a wee bit of wear and tear of the old bothy, due to the weather over the years!macfaqers cave is falling to peaces and more so over the last couple of years, (at the front end). ok jackie all the best......blair! The background terrain does suggest that this is unlikely to be the Macfarquhar's bothy, because the 'Bed'itself would show thro'the haze to the right? The entrance lean-to missing/demolished? To me it suggests the Eathie Bothy from seaward, judging by the vegetation. Comment left on 24 February 2014 at 16:37 by Clem Watson
