Peddieston House, photographed in Septmber 2013. This building, now a private residence, was formerly Peddieston School. Both it and Cromarty School were built in 1875/6. Cromarty was designed for 300 pupils and Peddieston for 120.

I am curious, could this building also have served as a church in Peddieston in the early 1700's ? (Or has there ever been a church in Peddieston in this time frame?)

Thank you!

Hi, I went to Peddieston during the 60's for all my primary schooling. I found the following from an extract of the Ordinary Gazeteer of Scotland:
In 1875-76 two new board schools were built at a cost of £6000 in the town and at Peddieston, 4¼ miles to the SW. With respective accommodation for 300 and 120 children.
