Ooh! 'at a grandur ca'in that a stan' pipe, in Cromarty parlance it wis cad' a ''Cockat'', now thee kens!
There were two such, this one, and the one between Seabank, and the sea wall, on the seaward side of the road. Tak' that! These were used before piped water was put directly into the houses, and a call twice a day to collect water was the norm, for most of the fishertown houses.
