McBean family - farmers in Cromarty - 1937Danny McBean came to Cromarty to farm Townlands in the mid 1930s. Pictured with him are his wife Catherine (nee Henderson) and sons Roallan, Donald and John (sitting). Roallan went on to farm Allerton, 3 miles away, Donald farmed Townlands and Kirkton (5 miles away) and John ran the dairy at Townlands and carried on delivering the milk for many years after it was closed. Note the milk churns at the left of the pic.

This picture was taken by Alan McBean, from Salisbury, Rhodesia. He was over for the Coronation of George VI as part of the South Africa Rifles, for which he played the pipes.
