The building we were photographed in front of was the school canteen, built in 1946/7 when 'school meals' were introduced. This was a great boon to those pupils travelling in from the surrounding countryside. The meals were good basic soups of good broth, stewing steak, followed by a variety of sweets.

The staff in the Canteen then I remember were Mrs Johnnie Aird, Mrs Phyliss Brittenden, and Mrs ? Hogg. Everything was cooked daily from scratch on the premises.

Hello Clem,
Can you tell me if the girl 4th from the right on the second row is my late Mum, Margaret Mcdonald?

Hi. A question to anyone looking at this picture re the question above. Is the girl 4th from the right on the on the 2nd row, my late mum Margaret McDonald? Also is the girl far left on the front row a Maclean, as I think she may be one of my aunties?
Thanks, Doline
