Gaelic Chapel Graveyard looking east

Gaelic Chapel Graveyard looking east

Date Added: 01 January 2003 Contributor: Alison Dunn Year: 1978 Picture No: 57

A view of the graveyard at the Cromarty Gaelic Chapel. It shows how abundant the flowers and wild plants truly were before the strange fixation developed for eradicating wild plants and replacing them with sterile (and expesive to maintain) grass. How many hundreds of thousands of pounds is wasted in this way. Much better, more attractive, and more beneficial for wildlife, to let the wild plants grow in most areas.

Looking to locate graves of Frasers in 18th and early 19th centuries.
Which graveyard? Gaelic? Are there any records for these times?

Note that Ross Cromarty Roots has only the "relatively easy" inscriptions, and useful though they may be, be aware that there are many more inscriptions. I remember seeing several decades ago a detailed typewritten report of the inscriptions in the Gaelic Churchyard and I think a very worn copy used to be held in the memorial inscriptions section of Highland Archives. Worth revisiting! Comment left on 18 May 2022 by Jim Mackay
