Comments:
The Micoperi 7000 could lift 7000 tonnes with each crane, or 15000 at the time, making it the most powerful crane barge in the world at that time. I was on it in 1990, and although I've been on over 50 offshore installations, such as the Conoco TLP (built at Nigg and Ardersier), the Magnus and the Ninian Central, none of them impressed me as much as the 7000.

The deck area, between the cranes at the bow and the accommodation at the rear was the size of three football pitches, with crawler cranes driving about it. The accommodation had a swimming pool and two lifts in it. At the time I was on it, there were a lot of Singaporean welders as well as the Italian crew. There were two completely separate galleys, one serving Italian food, and one Indonesian.

I worked as a scaffolder on the Conoco TLP. It was one of the most interesting jobs I have ever had. I live in Mexico now and recently I met a Turkish chap that I had met on that very rig. Nice pic by the way.
