Harbour, Cromarty

This is a postcard which is undated so the date is a guess on my part. Postcard was published by Hossack & Mcleod, Cromarty. Does anybody have any information on the publishers?

Have a look at the B & W photograph, picture #188. 'This Noble Harbour' by Dr Marinell Ash, it was taken from my former bedroom window when I stayed in Frith-view'( Note : Frith) old Scottish spelling, used on old maps & that house Title. The concrete extension was added circa. 1934, and the sheds repositioned.

It's the first photo I've seen showing the harbour without the concrete extension - I'd guess that it would be earlier than 1910.

No. The left hand shed, Stella's Office, & our paraffin Store was moved to the left, on top of the 1934 concrete piled area, next to the ramp in the 'Vee'. You'll see what I mean in the picture #85 with the swimmers at the chute.

The shed configuration may be the clincher. The early photos seem to show the sheds further apart unless itís an optical illusion?
