Harbour, Cromarty

Date Added: 17 February 2004 Contributor: Andrew Bathie Year: 1910 Picture No: 682

This is a postcard which is undated so the date is a guess on my part. Postcard was published by Hossack & Mcleod, Cromarty. Does anybody have any information on the publishers?

It's the first photo I've seen showing the harbour without the concrete extension - I'd guess that it would be earlier than 1910. Comment left on 17 February 2004 by Garve Scott-Lodge
Have a look at the B & W photograph, picture #188. 'This Noble Harbour' by Dr Marinell Ash, it was taken from my former bedroom window when I stayed in Frith-view'( Note : Frith) old Scottish spelling, used on old maps & that house Title. The concrete extension was added circa. 1934, and the sheds repositioned. Comment left on 17 February 2004 by Clem Watson
The shed configuration may be the clincher. The early photos seem to show the sheds further apart unless it’s an optical illusion? Comment left on 18 February 2004 by Andrew Bathie
No. The left hand shed, Stella's Office, & our paraffin Store was moved to the left, on top of the 1934 concrete piled area, next to the ramp in the 'Vee'. You'll see what I mean in the picture #85 with the swimmers at the chute. Comment left on 18 February 2004 by Clem Watson
