For all we hear about life expectancy rising in the last century, when you look around the gravestones in Cromarty you find a very high percentage of people who lived into their 80s in the last couple of centuries. It seems that if you survived childhood, when many people died then, that you could expect to live just as long a life as we do now. Comment left on 22 March 2004 by Garve Scott-Lodge
I am hoping this could be one of my husband's ancestors. Comment left on 05 October 2004 at 13:17 by Joyce Herbert
I wonder if the Margaret Hossack who erected this headstone was the wife of the late James McTavish. If anyone reccognises the names please contact me. Comment left on 10 March 2009 at 22:48 by Carolyn Sheehan
