Re-used stone on Courthouse.

This re-used stone with the initial AJ and the date 1696 was discovered a few weeks ago on the Courthouse building. It is possible that the initials are those of either Alexander Junor or Andrew Junor. Andrew Junor’s finely carved gravestone is in the burial ground at St Regulus.

My father Ian Junor has pointed this post out to me (he submitted the image of the stone bearing the "J" in the Courthouse.) [picture #1404]

This is of interest to me as we have named our now 2.5 year old son Andrew Junor! Perhaps we will return to Cromarty and get to see his namesakes tombstone :)
