My dad says he's nearly 300ft up there and scaffolding or handrails weren't a requirement back then. He and several others were working inside that pipe he is walking on one day when a crane hit another pipe against that one and all of them had to get out of a man hole hatch and run down that pipe. After seeing this pic I no longer think my mam (picture #645) is the only mad person in my family. Comment left on 28 April 2004 at 22:25 by Ronald Young
I have put this picture of my father on the safety notice board on the Fulmar Alpha out in the central North Sea. It seems to be getting a bit of attention from the O.I.M.{ what a dad, nerves of steel } Comment left on 05 December 2004 at 08:12 by Warren Young

Its actually very strange to see my father on his own as these days he is always seen with his best mate at his side (SKIP THE DOG) Comment left on 17 January 2008 at 01:35 by Warren Young
I believe that I remember Andy ... I was at Nigg from 1973 until about 1990 (I was then 'posted' to other parts of B&R) ...

I was originally a GW \ Helper, then Fabricator (mostly west yard and the dock) and then a Foreman (mostly Fab Shop 2) ... I have NO bad memories of that time, whatsoever ... the 'crack' was tremendous (and the great money didn't hurt either !) ...

Oh yes - handrails - puulllease ! ... we used to wander around on the top of the upper legs and cross-braces, with our hands in our pockets!

I worked as a production operator on the Ninian Field for 26 years. I worked on Ninian Central, which was built at Kishorn and Ninian Northern and Southern which were built at Nigg. Ninian South was my last one. Comment left on 09 March 2019 at 18:24 by Simon Gunn
