Kessock Herring

Two Cromarty based fishing boats head out to trawl the prawn grounds off Tarbert Ness, passing gulls feeding on a shoal of young herring or Sprats on the evening of the 1st June. I remember a healthy seasonal market for young (Kessock) Herring and Sprats in Inverness Harbour in the early 70's, landed mainly by Avoch boats.
