Can someone confirm to me that these are drainage marks in the turnip field in the foreground?

Yes. These show the route of the drains that my Dad put in some 30 years ago.

I can also confirm those are the lines of field drains, I measured them on behalf of Duncan Macpherson and prepared a plan of same, for the then Dept. of Agriculture. I still have the aerial B&W negatives
I took to confirm the work was executed!! At that time I hired a Cessna 150, which could get low enough
for hand held camera work. My Negs. are marked ''Duncan's Drains/Cromarty Mains''
