I think the people of Cromarty owe a big thank you to R J Macleod Construction Manager HECTOR MACDONALD and his key workers in this project, ANDY MACDONALD and DONNIE NICHOLSON. The job they are doing at the harbour is first class and I don't think we could have got anyone better to do the job. Comment left on 12 August 2004 at 21:12 by Ronald Young
Did the dredging excavations come up with any interesting artefacts? eg Coins, Pottery, antique anchors.

I'm sure something interesting, must have 'gone over the side' since the harbour was last dredged?
Ronald, Could you spare some 'progress photos' of the operation?

All the sand and cobbles taken from the harbour have been used on the other side of the parapet wall to extend the land behind the boat club compound - so far the only thing of interest I've seen is a fairly new anchor.

What's really surprised me is that the material removed seems very clean - I'd expected it to stink for months but can't smell anything off it at all.

Yes Clem I have plenty of photos and will gladly email or post you any copies you want. If you haven't seen what theyve done yet you should take a look - it's a cracking job. Comment left on 25 August 2004 at 21:54 by Ronald Young
