South Sutor Stacks

The WW1 Gun (and WW2 searchlight) Gun emplacements on the Sutor Stacks. The link wire bridge seen in picture #148 (1990) is now pretty much gone.

Comments:
The link wire bridge is on the north sutor searchlights. the access to both searchlights are by a flight of steps.
The ruined building is the not a gun emplacement but actually the WW1 searchlight position

Good point Allan - my mix up.

Thanks for an excellent 'aerial' view of a small landing space, in good weather, for my sea kayak, cos I've never actually been down to that area on foot . The WW2 'Boom Defence' anti submarine net
was tensioned, from the area close to these search light stacks.

Clem is there any sign of the fixtures for the boom defence by the seachlights.

Allan, I'm not 100% on the position of the 'fixings', but I remember going with my father delivering coal & coke to the Gun emplacement area, the Radar Stn., the Coastguard Watch-hut, and him telling me about a net for catching ''boats that go under the sea'', pointing towards the sea below. At seven years old in '43 that was a phrase I could understand.

Where can I get a list of people stationed at the army camp about 1944; can anyone help?
