Congratulations Andrew in finding this picture. A few months ago I prepared a series of 3-view line drawings of the Cromarty Air Station aircraft, 1913, for the ROYAL AIR FORCE Museum at Hendon, London. After having being inspired a) by Eric Malcolm's research on the subject, plus b) direct contact with the Musee d'Aviation at Le Bourget, near Paris.
So far I produced the Borel, and the Caudron G2, and at present working on the Farman, Cromarty based, with the Renault engine. The Base, first in the UK had a short life, then moved to Fort George. Winston Churchill, 1st Sea Lord at the time, took several flights around the inner Moray Firth area with Lt. Longmore.

Thanks Clem, would this hanger have been on the Links? It does look like it is on grass and the hanger something of a glorified marquee.

Andrew, yes it was on the Links, it was a sort of sectional marquee, the patent name was, from memory, Besameau. I will cross check this for you. I'm going to Cromarty in the morning, plus a visit to your uncle Corrie!
