Alan says "this is my great uncle, Donald Hogg from Big Vennel. He was a stoker on HMS EXETER in the battle of the River Plate, WWII. He went on to be stoker on the Royal Yacht, Britannia."

Donnie Brockie as he was also known. His mother died when he was very young and stayed with his granny in the Big Vennel.

This is my grandfather (not biological). He moved to Australia and married my grandmother. They lived in Canberra and he was a wonderful man. He died 8/1/2010.
