I remember that - the Pile was buckled and had to be removed and repaired.

The pile had to be replaced, Derek, not repaired. We had to scour the country for steel so that the mill could roll a replacement pile!

I'm pretty sure that I remember Graham McChesney (eventually Pipemill Manager) telling me that the unbuckled sections were retained - it was 'lost' piles (during offshore upending) from either FC or FD that had to be totally replaced?

You're right, Derek. My mistake. I had forgotten all about that incident!!

The "lost piles" were on Magnus during upending, 11 off them. I remember this one in the photo coming to a screaching halt. Do you remember the pile they dropped at the other end? It landed on the Dock Gate and wrote off 2 Skyhorses and a 4100. I have photos somewhere that I'll send you.
