Alla Jimmy Reid is my Grandfather, he wasn't known for his adventurous lifestyle, my brother Peter and I have been talking about this and trying to work out what this event was. Do you know what the outing was about? Who are the other people in the photograph who all look younger than our man Jimmy? The woman immediately behind him looks like a young Martha Reid in 1950 she would have been about 24 or so.

Any clues out there from anyone?

This is an interesting photo, 'cos from memory at that date there was an international group of young students arrived here in Cromarty, to help with the harvest,on the various farms around the Black Isle. The photo may have been 'support staff' in situ at that time. I still have a letter in Danish, which one of the students at that time wrote in reply to a 'Message in a bottle' of mine, which thrown in off Lossie on a lifeboat trip, actually reached a town called Hirtshalls, in the Northern tip of Denmark. Just another line to follow! (PS Photo taken South Sutor Camp) Comment left on 19 November 2011 at 18:52 by Clem Watson
