Mary (my grandmother) and Williamina Sutherland outside Cromarty Mains Farm Cottages, where they lived. Their Father Kenneth Sutherland worked as a Shepherd there. Photo from about 1922 or 1923.

My grandparents John Macdonald and Elizabeth (nee Urqhuart) lived at Cromarty Mains Farm Cottages with their family, my mother Hughina, her sisters Alexandrina, Isabella, Elizabeth and brother William who unfortunately was killed at the Battle of Arras in 1917. I have a photo which on the back reads Gilmours Cottage. I visted Cromarty in June this year and with help from Cromarty residents it was identified as no 1 Cromarty Mains Farm Cottage.
